Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Wingfield, Retired, 70, of Wharton, TX, died January 12, 2016, in Houston, Texas. Tim was born on November 9, 1945, to Melvin “Wing” and Barbara Wingfield, in Coffeyville, Kansas. He grew us all over, following his father’s career in the Air Force. He graduated from Fayetteville High School and earned his Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas, and later earned a Masters degree in Business Administration. He followed in his father’s footsteps and was commissioned as an officer in the Air Force. He loved his life as a pilot for 25 years before his retirement in 1992. He reconnected with his High School sweetheart, Janice Baumann and they married on November 26, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wharton. His true passions were geo caching and fishing. He was preceded in death by his father Melvin “Wing” Wingfield and sister, Bonnie Wingfield. Tim is survived by his wife Janice Baumann Wingfield; mother Barbara Wingfield; daughters Karin Engelman & Barry, Christine Wingfield and Jennifer Baxter and Jim; sons Robert Myrick & Kayla and David Truitt Wingfield & Niki; brothers Michael Wingfield & Susan; Stephen Wingfield & Margaret and Scott Wingfield & Becky; grandchildren Samuel Engelman & Breijanna, Joshua Engelman, David Engelman, Alex Ross, Elsa Baxter, Lindy Baxter, Jordan Myrick, Lindsay Myrick and Abigail Wingfield. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church in Wharton with Pastor Debbie Cenko officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Wingfield, Robert Myrick, Barry Engelman and Jim Baxter. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either Wharton First Presbyterian Church or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
