Roy J. Buenger, 73, of Wharton, TX, died January 27, 2016, in Wharton, Texas. Roy was born on September 2, 1942 in Wharton, to Leroy and Lena Giesie Buenger. He graduated from Wharton High School prior to enlisting in the US National Guard. He later made his living as a farmer for 18 years before working for the State Highway Department for 23 years. He married the love of his life Linda Wobbe on November 15, 1969. In his spare time he loved gardening, fishing, making wine and shooting sports. Roy was preceded in death by his parents and half brother Leo Giesie and brother in law Billy Wayne Pierce. Roy is survived by his wife Linda; daughters Kelly Brown of Katy and Karol Hartman & Paul of Sugar Land; sister Nancy Pierce; brothers Ernest Giesie & Roselle; grandchildren Maygen Brown, Brady Brown, Luke Hartman and Cameron Hartman. Visitation will be held Friday, January 29, 2016 from 5-9 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Bob Knippenburg officiating. Serving as Pallbearers are Kevin Pierce, Greg Pierce, Logan Giesie, Melvin Buenger, Al Smaistrla and Randy Kresta. Honorary Pallbearers are his grandchildren and Paul Hartman.
