Iva Marie Fertsch Iva Marie Fertsch, age 87, of Wharton passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 at her residence following a sudden illness. She was born on May 6, 1928 in the Boling Newgulf area, the daughter of the late Frank and Viola Hargett Burns. Marie was raised in the Boling and Newgulf areas and graduated from Boling High School. On September 8, 1946 she married Wilburn Paul Fertsch in Boling. They moved to Wharton in 1962. She was a stay at home mom while her children were in school, then she worked at Sol's Ladies Wear and Wynn's Jewelry Store in Wharton. Wilburn preceded her in death on September 20, 1999. Marie enjoyed emailing her children and grandchildren, visiting with neighbors and shopping at Wal-Mart, where she never met a stranger. Graveside services were held on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton at 3 pm with Pastor Don Hurley officiating. Marie is survived by her sons, Paul Fertsch, Jr and wife, Joan "Bunny" of Wharton and Doug Fertsch and wife, Tricia of Woodway, brothers Byron Burns and wife, Shirley of Pearland and Lyle Burns of Boling. Marie is also survived by her grandchildren, Christi Malone and husband, Beau, Lindsey Altenburg and husband, Charles “Chuck", Andy Fertsch and Lindsey Sargent, Jessica Dotson and husband, Damon and Ali Fertsch. She was blessed with great grandchildren, Camille, Cooper, Cotton, Ellie, Madison, Riley, Savannah, and Tylie, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
