Charlie Wayne Boland Charlie Boland, 75, of Wharton, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, following a short illness in Houston Methodist Hospital. He was born June 3, 1940 in Sebastian, Texas to the late Raymond and Vernie West Boland. Charlie was raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado and graduated from Harrison High in Colorado. He worked for many years in the electronics field, retiring from Motorola. He married Leola Jane Thurmond on March 20, 2004 in Wharton. Charlie enjoyed yardwork, playing Chess, going to movies, playing dominoes and listening to Tennessee Ernie Ford music. Charlie is survived by his wife, Jane Boland of Wharton, daughters, Peggy Jane Hutyra and husband Jimmy Ray of Wharton and Julie Ann Smolik and husband, John of Cypress, brothers, Howard Boland and wife, Karen of Grand Junction Colorado and Ron Boland and wife, Virginia of Walsenburg, Co, grandchildren, Kim Hobbins and husband, Travis, Kristy Hutyra, Danny Smolik and wife, Alicia, and Amy Smolik, great grandchild, Brody Wayne Hobbins. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Caleb Reed and Cameron Pratka. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. P.F. Thomas officiating. Following cremation, burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
