Ivory E. Shilk, 93, of Wharton, Texas, died February 23, 2016, in Wharton, Texas. Ivory was born on April 22, 1922, to Ralph and Emily Thigpen Bradley in Lampasas, Texas. Ivory attended Lampasas High School prior to her marriage to Harold Shilk Sr. in October of 1941. They were married 54 years, until his death in 1996. She was very proud to be a business woman, owning both a Short Stop Grocery in Houston and the Jones Motel in El Campo. She loved to do anything fun, from swimming in the creeks and lakes of her youth to family gatherings as she got older. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and all but one of her brothers and sisters. She was survived by her sons Harold Shilk Jr. and his wife Judy of Wharton and Danny Shilk and his wife Jean of Katy; sister Billie Puls of Conroe; grandchildren Rachel Ondrias, Samantha Shilk-Cockerham, Todd Shilk and Erin Walker; and nine great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016, at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039, with Father John Soard officiating.
