Helen Ondrias

Helen Ondrias, 89, of Wharton passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Round Rock on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. She was born June 16, 1926 in Garwood, Texas, to the late Frank and Aemilia Wesselski, Sr. Helen was raised in Garwood and graduated from Garwood High School. She enjoyed spending time cooking with her family and friends, dancing, playing the slots at the Coushatta from time to time, and her strawberry daiquiris. She had a wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed! Helen was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Francis Nolan and brothers, Frank and Fritz Wesselski. Helen is survived by her 4 sons; Jim Ondrias and wife, Dolly of Houston, Ronnie Ondrias and wife, Deana of Wharton, Darrell Ondrias and wife, Nancy of Wharton and Mike Ondrias and wife, Dana of Houston, daughters; LaVerne Gilligan and husband, Jim of Beaumont and Linda Hancock and husband, J.R. of Round Rock, sisters, Leona Cranek and husband, Louis of Garwood and Annie Labay of Nada, 10 wonderful grandchildren and 11 precious great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 9 a.m. with a rosary recited at 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Bob Knippenberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers are Wesley Ondrias, Paul Hancock, Dain Johnson, Dusty Williams, Jerry Labay and Norman Nolan. Honorary pallbearer Brian Ondrias. For those who would like to make a charitable contribution in lieu of flowers, the family suggests Houston Hospice or any other charity of your choice.
