Leona Kruppa Miller passed away the morning of April 16, 2016, at the age of 85 after a lengthy illness. Leona was a long time resident of Wharton, TX. Leona is survived by her brother, Bernard Kruppa of Richmond, sister, Clarice Martin and husband John of Jay, OK, three children, Mike Miller and wife Bonnie of Katy, Gary Miller and wife Virgie, of Needville and Janice Miller of Houston. Leona is also survived by five granddaughters, Emily Adams and husband Hadley of Richmond, Meredith Katopodis of Katy, Rachel Fansler of Richmond, Megan Miller and fiancé Reece Prihoda of Matagorda, Kayla Smith and husband Christopher of Richmond, and one grandson, Shaun Houlihan of San Ramon, CA. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Parker Adams, Addisyn Katopodis, Tyson Walshak, Hunter Poncik, Kate Katopodis, Blair Smith and numerous step-grandchildren. Leona is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Miller, her brother, Sylvester Kruppa Sr., and sister, Henrietta Felcman. Leona was born January, 21, 1931 in East Bernard, TX to Hugo Kruppa and Mary Borak Kruppa. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton. She was a wonderful seamstress, quilter, craft master and gardener winning the ‘Yard of the Month’ several years ago. After cremation, a funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, April 23, at 10:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Holy Family Catholic Church or the Holy Family Catholic Church Alter Society. The family would like to thank Deborah Donahue, Lula Baylor, both of Wharton and the entire staff at S.P.J.S.T. Nursing Home and Rehab in Needville who cared for Leona for several years until her death.
