Richard Paul Gonzales, 60, of Glen Flora passed away on Sunday, April 17th 2016 at his home surrounded by family due to an extended illness. He was born to John Gonzales Jr and Alva Garcia Gonzales on March 10, 1956 in Wharton, TX. After graduating from Wharton High School, he worked with Matthews Contracting in El Campo. He loved all sports, listening to music, watching the Dallas Cowboys and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20th, 2016 at Wharton Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 21st, 2016 at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton with Father Antonio Perez officiating. Burial to follow at Glen Flora Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Jacob Bartley, Michael “Pops” Morales, Patrick Wearden, John Brown, Felix Jimenes and Jessie Garcia. Survivors include brother Ronnie Gonzales and wife Darlene of Glen Flora, Tx; sisters; Rebecca Jimenes of Glen Flora, Terry Morales and husband Mike of Eagle Lake, and Debra Cervantes and George of Houston, Tx.; nieces Misty Morales of Austin, Tx, Shelby Gonzales of Glen Flora; nephews, Michael “Pops” Morales of Austin, Tx, Jacob Bartley of Glen Flora and Timothy Morales of San Marcos, Tx.
