Marion George Winkenwerder, 87, of Boling, passed away April 30, 2016, at his home in Boling following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 4, 1928, in Shiner, Texas to the late August and Martha Boedeker Winkenwerder. Wink was raised in the Shiner area and attended school there. He served our country in the United States National Guard. Wink married Evelyn Iola Muenster on October 16, 1948 in High Hill Texas. She preceded him in death on December 8, 2006. Wink worked as a farmer most of his life. He was also a carpenter, belonging to Carpenters Local Union 1084. He loved to hunt and fish, make wine from his homegrown blackberries and citrus fruit. In addition to his parents and wife, Wink was preceded in death by his siblings, Rudy, Edgar, Bill, Victor, Isabel, Edith, and Edna. He is survived by daughters, Jo Ann Twardowski and husband, Robert of Boling, Shirley Richter and husband, Michael of Needville, Peggy Rodriguez and husband, Ray of Boling and Karen Soto of Moody, sons, Harvey Winkenwerder and wife, Theresa of Midwest City, OK, Kenneth Winkenwerder and wife, Debbie of Plano, Jerry Winkenwerder and wife, Debbie of Pledger, and Gary Winkenwerder and wife, Katie of Wharton, brother, Allen Winkenwerder of Yoakum, 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, May 2 at Wharton Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 7pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 10 am at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Deacon David Valdez officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers will be Alan Muenster, Kenny Willet, Duane Willet, Bill (William) March, Jr., Bobby Twardowski, Brian Twardowski, Greg Mach, and Adam Smith, with Paul Vela and Chris Merecka serving as honorary pallbearers.
