Joe L. Mireles Sr., 82, of Newgulf, TX, died Monday, May 2, 2016, in Clute, TX. Joe was born on August 3, 1933, to Lorenzo and Florencia Lopez Mireles, in New Gulf, TX. He was a resident of Wharton County nearly all his life. He and his wife Bertha moved their family to Corpus Christi in 1960, but returned in 1967. He worked at Texasgulf Sulpher Company as a pipe insulator. He loved to go fishing in Matagorda. He also loved watching sports, especially his Dallas Cowboys. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bertha Reyes Mireles, and son Adrian Mireles. He was survived by daughters Vangie Mireles, Linda Seals, Norma Mireles and Bonnie Martinez and her husband Eddie; sons Joe Mireles Jr. and his wife Maria, Michael Mireles and Manny Mireles and his wife Toni; grandchildren Monica, Sulema, Michael, Kristopher, Chuck, Mark, Maci, Bianca, Joana, Kristina, Ashley, Michael Rene, Samantha, Olivia, William and Michael; 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous brothers and sisters. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Fr. Bob Knippenberg officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Michael, Kristopher, Chuck, Mark, William and Michael A.
