Michael Grissom, age 49, of Wharton passed away Saturday morning, May 28, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 5, 1966 in Houston, Texas, a son of Mary Agnes Dromgoole Grissom and the late Reverend Billy C. Grissom. Michael was raised in Houston and Colorado. He graduated from Greely Central High School and later the University of Colorado with a Masters in Telecommunications Engineering. He married Donna Wilson on June 6, 1987 in Boulder, CO. They moved to the Wharton area in 2003. Michael worked in the Computer Industry as a Systems Engineer for many years. He was very good at loving those around him and making people laugh with his witty sense of humor. He lived life fully with an adventurous spirit. Michael obtained his pilot’s license, scuba credentials and was a noted marksman. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and being a part time rancher. He was also active on the Wharton ISD School Board and on the Vestry at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Wharton. Following cremation, funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016, 11:00am at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Wharton with Rev. John Soard officiating. Michael is survived by his wife of 29 years, Donna Grissom of Wharton, daughters, Stephanie Grissom and Heather Grissom both of College Station, mother, Mary Agnes Grissom and husband, Neal Dawson of Wharton, sisters, Mary Teresa Grissom and husband, Scott Reed of Tomball, Anne Maria Wigginton and husband, Daryle of Eagle Lake, brother, James Cullen Grissom and wife, Liz of College Station, mother and father in law, Rae and Walter Wilson of Colorado, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
