Clay "Buddy" Lee Joines

Clay Lee “Buddy” Joines Clay Lee “Buddy” Joines, 38, of Wharton and formerly of Bastrop, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in a Houston hospital. Clay was born on June 26, 1977 in Wharton, TX to parents, William Lee Joines, Jr. and Carolyn York Joines. Raised in Wharton and graduating from Wharton High School, Clay was a spirited young man who enjoyed listening to George Strait music, visiting with friends and family, and enjoyed playing his drums. Clay loved when he could join his mother at the auction barn and his father for lunch at Mikeskas. He was a very friendly person who never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, William Lee Joines, Sr, and John Louis York. Clay is survived by his parents, Carolyn Joines of Wharton and William Joines, Jr. also of Wharton, sister, Leigh Ann Joines Holub and husband, Gary and their daughter, Gracyn Holub with another baby on the way of New Braunfels, brother, Cole Wayne Joines and wife, Mandi and their daughter, Hannah Joines of Missouri City, grandmothers, Jerry Joines and Lorine York both of Wharton, aunts and uncles, Joe Ray Joines and wife, Diana, Tom Joines and wife Sharon, Jon Joines and wife Blanche, Tammie Janik and husband, Terry, John York and wife, Betty, Marjorie McClellan and husband, Jack and Ed York and wife, Margie along with numerous cousins and a host of friends. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, June 3, 2016 at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home in Wharton after 5 pm with a Rosary recited along with a prayer service at 7pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 2 pm at St Phillips Catholic Church, 304 W Church St in El Campo with Fr. Michael Rother officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers are Clint Joines, Matt Joines, Luke Joines, Drew Joines, Ty Janik, Todd Janik, Chris York, Matt York, Alex York, Johnathan York, Robert York, and Richard Mason.
