Michael Klima, 66, of Wharton, passed away on June 3, 2016, in a Richmond hospital following complications from a car accident. Michael was born on April 10, 1950 in Wharton, TX to parents, Frank C Klima, Sr. and Anna Marie Viktorin Klima. Michael graduated from Forrest Park High School in Beaumont, TX. The family eventually moved back to Wharton. For the last few years he had been employed by Nelson Flyers in Danevang. He really enjoyed his work and was known as a hard worker. Michael was a member of the Wharton Knights of Columbus and enjoyed working all of their events. He liked going to the Viktorin family reunions, Church auctions and was a devoted listener of KULP 1390 am radio station in El Campo and was a frequent winner of their contest. In addition to his parents and grandparents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Frank J. Klima. Michael is survived by his brother, Mark Klima and wife, Rebecca of Wharton; aunts, Dorothy Viktorin and Tillie Viktorin of Wharton; nephews, Barron Klima, Matthew Klima and wife, Rachel and Christopher Englund and wife, Danielle; as well as numerous cousins and friends. In addition, he is survived by a special cousin, Pat Kresta and family, who provided care and support to Mike for many years. Serving as pallbearers are Matthew Klima, Anthony Pekar, Keith Kresta, Larry Viktorin, Allen Viktorin and Gary Gensler. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, June 9, 2016 at Wharton Funeral Home from 6 till 9 pm with a Holy Rosary recited at 7 pm by Keith Kresta. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 10th at 10 am at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hungerford with Fr, Charles Dwomoh officiating. Burial will follow at St Johns Cemetery in Hungerford.
