Ricarda Z. Flores, 85, of Lane City, died June 29, 2016, in Richmond. Ricarda was born on February 7, 1931, to Antonio and Petra Zavala, in Edna. Ricarda never went to school, but she learned from the land working on the family farm until her marriage. She married Lorenzo Flores, Sr., in December of 1957, and was his devoted wife for 53 years until his death in 2011. She loved listening to the radio, especially the Pan American Hour, sewing, dancing and being around children. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She was survived by daughters Petra Jansky of Wharton and Rosa Vasquez and her husband Randy of Lane City; sons Florentino Flores and wife Janie of Giddings, Fermin Flores and wife Linda of San Angelo, Fernando Flores and wife Kelly of Lane City, Lorenzo Flores Jr. of Lane City, Patrick Flores and wife Connie of Wharton and Frankie Flores and wife Kathy of El Campo; several step and half siblings; thirty grandchildren; fourty-four great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday from 5-9 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church with Father Bob Knippenberg officiating. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Serving as Pallbearers will be Trey Flores, Florentino Flores Jr., Ernest Barron Jr., Israel Barron, John Barron Jr. and Domingo Barron. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
