Johnny Samora Sr., 72, of Wharton, died June 28, 2016, in Richmond. Johnny was born on May 28, 1944, to Raymond and Louisa Samora, in Wharton. Johnny worked in Plant Construction for most of his life. He married the love of his life, Elma Trevino Samora in January of 1966. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage. Johnny enjoyed dancing, both playing and listening to music, and all things Elvis. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gregory Samora. He was survived by his wife Elma Samora; sons Victor Samora and Johnny Samora Jr.; sisters Isabel Cordero, Lupe Sedillo & Manuel, Ermenda Cordero & Adolph, Mary Louise Balles & Ruben, Patsy S. Pena & Roy; grandchildren Victor Samora Jr. and Zachery Garcia; and great-grandchildren Giselle Garcia and Zachery Garcia Jr. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church with Father Bob Knippenberg officiating. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
