Tommy McDent Lane, 74, beloved father and grandfather, went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2016. Tommy was born and raised in Wharton, Texas. He graduated from Wharton High School and attended Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. Tommy worked for many years at Texas Gulf Sulphur in Newgulf. After leaving Texas Gulf Sulphur, he relocated near Austin and worked for the Parks and Wildlife Department. Tommy was retired and at the time of his passing, resided in Bastrop. He is preceded in death by his parents, T.W. “Buckshot” and Margaret Lane, as well as his brother Jimmy Lane, Sr. He is survived by his three daughters, Mary Bertrand, Lynda Pelischek and husband, Tim, and, Lana Harrison husband, Toma, a brother William Lane of Rockport, Texas, as well as seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Wharton City Cemetery on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 11am. Services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
