Herman Olivo

Herman Olivo, 72, of Wharton, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Saturday evening, September 3, 2016, at his residence in Wharton. He was born July 19, 1944 in Wharton, Texas to parents Teodoro and Margarita Belasquez Olivo. Herman was raised in the Wharton area and graduated from Wharton High School in 1962. He worked many years at Wharton ISD in the maintenance department, retiring in 2003. He also worked for HEB. Herman enjoyed baseball, softball, watching the Dallas Cowboys and listening to KULP Radio, never missing Polka Time or the Trading Post. In addition to his parents, his brothers, Alfredo and Daniel Olivo also preceded him in death. Following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Herman is survived by his step daughter, Louisa Jimenez and husband, Joe of Wharton, step son, Ignacio “Nacho” Valdes and wife, Veronica of Wharton, nieces whom Herman helped raise; Mary Jane Jaquez and husband, Daniel of Wharton, and Mary Ann Olivo of Brazoria, sister, Cruz Olivo of Wharton, brothers, Jesse Olivo of Arkansas, Paul Olivo and wife, Naomi of Wharton, John Olivo and wife, Anna of McCamey, Tx and Joe Olivo and wife Yolanda of Palestine, along with special grandchildren, Adrian and Jacob Jimenez, Clarissa and Joshua Valdes, Craig Jaquez and Andre Riveria.
