Joyce M. Wittig Ivy born November 12, 1938 in El Campo, Texas and passed away on September 5, 2016. Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Ivy, of 54 years in June 2013; her loving mother, Elinora Reinke Wittig and an infant brother. Joyce is survived by son , Ronnie Ivy (Bay CITY); son, Michael Ivy and grandsons, Matthew and Blake Ivy (San Antonio); sister, Barbara Wallen and husband, Paul (Fair Oaks Ranch); brother, Ronald Wittig and wife, Leah (Wharton);. numerous nieces and nephews; special pet, Clyde. In the early years, Joyce played the piano and the organ for many church events in Wharton, Houston, and Seguin. Her sons and her grandchildren were the love of her life as well as her special pet, Clyde. She enjoyed her flower gardens and wood working. Joyce graduated from Wharton High School and from the Wharton County Jr. College, worked for Stauffer Chemical Company and retired from Shell Oil Company in Houston, Texas, in 1993 after 25 years of service. After her retirement, she worked part time for the Vaughan family in Bay City. Joyce and her husband retired to Selkirk Island, Bay City, Texas in 1994. A special thank you to Kristi Neal as she was a wonderful, caring, loving and special niece and was like a daughter to our Mother, to Ronnie & Leah Wittig and numerous family members. to Barbara Silverthorne, Kathy Leach , Sally Johnson, Harry Thomas and Lee Vaughan plus many others including family members, neighbors and friends who so graciously gave of their time to do so many wonderful things for our Mother. You will always have a special place in our hearts. We know you had a special place in our Mother’s heart. A special thank you for the outstanding care given by Melissa Bautista, June Moore and others from the Bethany Home Care group.
