Edward Poncik

Edward “Eddie” Poncik, 90, of Wharton, died Saturday, September 24, 2016, in Sugarland, Texas. Eddie was born on October 7, 1925, to Frank and Bertha Poncik in St. Mary’s, Texas. Eddie was raised in the Ellinger area. He moved to Wharton when he married Paulina Poncik in 1980. He worked for many years doing maintenance for a gravel pit. He farmed and raised cows. Eddie also enjoyed listening to music and playing Bingo. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Paulina Poncik; and sisters Rosie Hrbacek, Dorothy Selzer and Bessie. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., also at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal and Burial will take place at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ellinger, Texas.
