Jessie Byrd Tyler Jessie Byrd Tyler passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016. She was born in Bastrop, Texas, on September 24, 1924, to Jesse M. Byrd and Hattie Neal Byrd. She celebrated her 92nd birthday last week with all her family by her side. She was devoted to her family and had a special love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After meeting the love of her life, Orben Dee Tyler, they were married in Wharton, Texas on October 14, 1939. They enjoyed sixty-one years of marriage living in Galveston, Santa Fe, and Wharton before his death in 2000. She loved fishing with her husband and would spend many hours trying to catch the big one! She is survived by two sons, Jesse Dee Tyler and wife Joan of Sugar Land, Texas, and Steve Gaylon Tyler and special girl-friend Barbara Janik of Magnet, Texas; two grandchildren, Jennifer Tyler Johnson and husband, Rob, and John Michael Tyler, as well as three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Matthew, and Kate Johnson all of Sugar Land, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Gladys McNeil, and brothers A.J. Byrd, Travis Byrd, Jimmie Byrd, Leroy Byrd, Estle Byrd, and Charlie Byrd. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. with Maurice Marrow officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Rob Giesecke, Jaycob Tyler, Shane Tyler, Brian McNeil, Billy Byrd, and Clint Byrd.
