George R. Jefferson

George R. Jefferson, 82, of Wharton died October 4, 2016, in Sugar Land, Texas. George was born on January 31, 1934, to Viola Greer in Wharton. George graduated from Wharton Technical School in 1952. He then made a career in the Air Force, serving honorably for 23 years before his retirement. Following is Air Force Service he went to work for the United States Postal Service and spent many years in his second career. When he wasn’t working, he always enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his mother and sister Hetty Jefferson. He was survived by his daughter Caroline Ross and her husband Michael Fichtel of Germany; sons David Jefferson and Tyrone Jefferson, both of Sacramento California; sister Cecelia Williams; and grandchildren Leon Marvin Fichtel-Ross, Alica Paula Fichtel-Ross, Teresa Helena Fichtel-Ross, Brianna Jefferson, Kylah Jefferson, David Jefferson Jr. and Leila Jefferson. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Wharton Funeral Home. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be C.L Kuykendall, Thomas Williams, Gordon Williams, Marcus Kuykendall and Kristoffer Williams. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
