Dorothea Mae McCarson Looper Dorothea Mae McCarson Looper, 96, went home to be with her Lord on October 6, 2016, in Beaumont, Texas. Dorothea was born in Boling, TX on October 1, 1920, to Garland and Alzada Rogers McCarson. Dorothea, always an honor student, attended public schools in Iago and Boling, San Marcos Baptist Academy, and graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio, Texas. She married the late Argus Vernon Looper on her eighteenth birthday, and they celebrated their 56th anniversary before Argus passed away in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Anna Loyce Myers and Donna V. Davis; and brother Roger McCarson. Dorothea lovingly cared for her husband and children as a home maker. She also served as pianist and organist for her churches, an accomplished Bible teacher until recently, and a valued prayer partner and wise counselor over the years for countless family members and friends until near the time of her death. She and her husband Argus had several successful business ventures during their marriage, and managed a family ranch near Iago, TX where they lived & worked together, and where Dorothea loved to teach and nurture her many grand and great grandchildren with doses of life lessons & Bible stories, home-cooked meals, and their favorite chocolate-chip cookies, and rice-krispy treats. She was very popular with them all. She was survived by her daughter Sherry Green and husband Richard of Beaumont; sons Argus Vaughn Looper and wife Sally of Richmond, and Gary Looper and wife Sheryl of Dripping Springs; sister Jackie Whitehead; brother Johnny McCarson; 24 grandchildren and spouses; 33 great grandchildren and spouses; and, 10 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 14th from 5-7 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. On Saturday, October 15th the family will gather at Wharton Funeral Home and proceed to Evergreen Memorial Park for graveside services at 11:30 a.m. Graveside Services will be conducted by Reverend Mike Rod. Friends and family are invited to join for a memorial celebration lunch at 1:00 - 3:00 pm, Saturday at The Lodge on Boling Highway in Wharton. The family has designated two organizations for memorials in lieu of flowers: Grace Community Fellowship, 1900 FM 1301, Wharton, Tx 77488; and, Christian Fellowship Worship Center, 3950 Pointe Pkwy, Beaumont Tx 77706.
