Judith Renee Uhr Selcer Judith Renee Uhr Selcer went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. She was born in San Antonio, Texas to Albert Daniel Uhr and Katie Davis Uhr on February 16, 1933. She was raised in San Antonio and spent part of her childhood in the Cristobal Canal Zone in the Republic of Panama, where her father was construction superintendent of the Panama Canal Department. She attended Alamo Heights High School and graduated from Thomas Edison High School in San Antonio in 1950. She earned her B.S. in Education at Texas A&I in Kingsville, TX in 1954, where she met the love of her life, Ervin Selcer. While in college, Judy had the unique opportunity to teach school on the King Ranch (Laureles division) and lived there on the ranch as well. After graduation, she taught school at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio. On August 18, 1956, Judy and Ervin were married at Coker Methodist Church in San Antonio, TX. They made their home in Kingsville where Judy taught school and started their family. Through her teaching career, she also taught in Bishop, Robstown, Bay City, Lake Charles, LA, and finally retired from teaching in Orange, TX, in 1996. Most of her teaching years were spent at Pierce Elementary School in Bay City, TX, where Judy and her family lived many years. After retiring, Judy and Ervin moved to Ervin’s home town of Wharton, Texas. Judy is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Ervin, her son, Tod Christopher, her daughter-in-law, Donna Moon Selcer, and her parents. She leaves behind two sons, Toby of Texas City, Tom (Traci) of New Braunfels, and daughter Tina (Bill) Jones of Bedford. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Kate Gomez (Chris), Amy Peoples (Todd), Jacob Selcer, Mykala Selcer, and Christopher Jones; six great grandchildren; Hanna Gomez, Ava Gomez, Christopher Gomez, Silas Gomez, Isabela Gomez, and Todd Peoples. She also leaves behind two loving brothers, Richard Uhr of Houston, Albert Thomas Uhr of Irving and many nieces, nephews and family members. The family would like to thank the loving staff at Elmcroft Assisted Living, AMed Hospice of Houston and to all the many caretakers who helped her through her illness, especially Mrs. Stella Sanders, Ms. Tara Jefferson, and Ms. Falona Sanford.
