Frank Rodriguez, Jr., 96, of Egypt, Texas, died Sunday, November 20, 2016, in Wharton, Texas. Frank was born on September 2, 1920, in Lincoln, Texas. He was the son of Frank Rodriguez, Sr., and Evangelina Trevino Rodriguez. He attended school in Egypt, Texas, and later studied at Wharton County Junior College. He entered the US Army in 1942 and served honorably until his discharge in 1945. A few months later he married his sweetheart, Simona Ballejo, and was her loving husband for over 60 years, until her death in 2010. He was preceded by his wife; daughter Esther Blomberg; grandson Thomas Araguz III; three sisters; and two brothers. He was survived by daughters Simona Longoria & husband Ricardo and Lydia Guerrero; sons Frank Rodriguez III & wife Epi and Fred Rodriguez & wife Martha; sisters Connie Rodriguez, Eva Perez and Lou Kijek; grandchildren Matthew, Joseph, Roland, Gabriel, Paul, Adam, Jennifer, Nicholas, Raquel, Noemi and Jose; as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday starting at noon at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, with a reciting of the Rosary at 1:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated also on Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church with Father Bob Knippenberg officiating. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 87 and VFW Post 4474.
