Johnny Ray Hoffman, 54, of Wharton, Texas, died December 21, 2016, in El Campo. Johnny was born on May 4, 1962, in Bay City, to Henry and Roxie Hoffman. Johnny graduated Tidehaven High School in El Maton, Texas, Class of 1980. He and his wife Marcella Gardner, have delivered the Wharton Journal Spectator and Houston Chronical to the citizens of Wharton for the past 35 years. Johnny loved reading Science Fiction, playing games on Facebook, and was always working on the family cars. His greatest joy was playing with his grandchildren. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents. He was survived by his wife Marcella Gardner; daughter Crystal Smith & Ed of Austin; sons Donald Gardner Jr. & Letisha of Angleton and Jeffery Gardner & Jennifer of Houston; sister Michele Guernsey & Dale; brothers Darell Hoffman & Pam and Jason Hoffman & Gina; grandchildren Taylor Smith, Donald “Trey” Gardner III, Kayden Gardner, Garrison Gardner, Devin Gardner, Cameron and Jayden; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:00 at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00.
