Josephine Krenek, 89, of Hungerford, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016, in a Sugar Land nursing center. Josephine was born on December 15, 1927 in East Bernard, TX to the late Jerry and Rosie Tymel Wasicek. Josephine attended school in East Bernard. She married Robert Krenek on July 15, 1947 in Hungerford. Josephine worked as a nurse in East Bernard and Wharton. After marriage, she became a homemaker and farmers’ wife, helping in the field when needed, making and then patching clothing for the family and cooking wonderful meals in her kitchen while listening to the Polka Parade. She was very active in St Johns Catholic Church serving as Auction Chair with her husband for many years, and being the CYO sponsor. Josephine was a wonderful cook, and loved sharing her recipes with friends and family, except she would always leave out one secret ingredient. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Alvin Wasicek. Josephine is survived by her daughter, Patricia Bertinot of Sugar Land, and sons, Robert Krenek, Jr and wife, Brenda of Wharton and John Krenek and spouse, Jamie Niblock of New York City, sister, Elsie Fojtik of Lane City, brothers, Paul Wasicek of Iago, Leonard Wasicek of Houston and Bennie Wasicek and wife, Angeline of Needville, grandchildren, Christian Bertinot, Brittany Krenek, Lauren Krenek, and Kayla Krenek and great grandchildren, Alexander Bertinot, Hannah Bertinot, Noah Bertinot, Madison Brod and Weston Hauff, and many nieces, nephews and friends . Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, December 27, 2016 at Wharton Funeral Home after 6 pm with a Holy Rosary recited at 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 28th at 10 am at St John Catholic Church in Hungerford with Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating. Rite of Committal and burial will follow in St John Cemetery in Hungerford. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Krenek III, Anthony Wasicek, Dennis Ray Wasicek, Hal Chudalla, James Evans and Logan Giesie Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
