Ruby Belle Hudspeth Ruby Belle Hudspeth, 108, of Wharton, TX, passed away on Thursday morning, January 26, 2017 in a Bay City hospital following a sudden illness. Ruby was born on July 10, 1908, to Henry Goldman and Annie Eliza Sassnett Reames, in Linden, TX. Ruby was raised in the Linden area and attended school there. On December 18, 1925, she married George Columbus Hudspeth in Ore City, Texas. The family moved to the Wharton area in 1945. George preceded her in death on December 9, 1961. She worked as a seamstress, making drapery and curtains, for many years before retiring in 1973. Ruby enjoyed crochet, word search puzzles, card games and dominoes. She was a huge supporter of her church, Peace Tabernacle. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her children, Mabel Doris Hudspeth, Vivian Fay Wilson, Thelma Carol Rohlfs, Charles Edward Hudspeth, George Wilmer Hudspeth, Bert Hudspeth, Robert Lloyd Hudspeth and Algie Ray Hudspeth, along with ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Monty Brown and Minnie Pearl Sawyer, both of Wharton, sister, Eva Gladys McIntosh of Carthage, 26 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 50 great great grandchildren. Visitation was held on Friday evening starting at 6 p.m. at Peace Tabernacle Church in Wharton. Funeral service will be Today, Saturday January 28 at 11 a.m. also at Peace Tabernacle Church with Rev. Tolbert Hudspeth officiating, assisted by Rev. J. Michael Bumgarner. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
