Marilyn Scotka Bubela, 65, of Wharton, died January 29, 2017, in Sugar Land. Marilyn was born on June 14, 1951, in El Campo, to the late John & Gladys Scotka. Marilyn was raised in Hillje and attended school in Louise. She graduated from Louise High School, Class of 1970. She married Daniel Bubela on July 9, 1972, and moved to make her home in Wharton. She worked for many years as a Bookkeeper, until her retirement in 2013. Marilyn engaged in many activities, including quilting, baking and fishing. She found her truest affection for her granddaughter, Savanna. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and sister Cynthia Mayhood. She was survived by her husband of 44 years, Daniel Bubela; daughter Idalia Bubela; sons Keith Bubela and Scott Bubela; sisters Karen Voldan & husband Stanley and Sharon Voldan & husband Henry; brother Ricky Scotka; and granddaughter Savanna Bubela. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at St. John Catholic Church in Hungerford. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. also at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr. Charles Dwomoh.
