Thomas J. Patterson

Thomas J. Patterson, Sr., 73, of Wharton, gained his reward January 31, 2017, in Houston, Texas. Thomas was born on October 19, 1943 in Seattle, Washington, to the late Teman Patterson and Mary Plocek Patterson. Thomas’ family moved to Texas when he was a child. He enlisted in the Army Reserves after high school. Upon leaving the military he pursued various adventures including commercial construction at home and abroad. Thomas’ greatest passion was spreading the Word of the Lord. He loved to preach and teach. Teaching Bible Study was his true calling. Thomas loved his family wholeheartedly. He is preceded in death by his parents, former wife Lois Ann Patterson, son John David Patterson, and grandson Tyson Gwosdz. He leaves behind his devoted wife Lezlee Kendrick Patterson who has remained lovingly by his side throughout his illness; daughters Leda Jo Smith of League City; Stacey Simpson and her husband Michael of Victoria; sons Samuel Dean Patterson and wife Robbi of Victoria, Thomas Jonathan Patterson Jr. and wife Brandy of Wharton, Teman Jonathan Patterson II of Wharton and Anthony Gwosdz and wife Morgan of Corpus Christi; sister Patricia Patterson of Victoria; brothers Michael Teman Patterson and wife Jovita of Sweeny and Douglas Frank Patterson and wife Roseann of Victoria; and grandchildren Matthew, Kimberly, Chase, Robin, Kyndall, Railynn, Amber, Dean, Klair, Teman III, Emily-Ann, Jewellea, Madeline, Ty and six great grandchildren. There will be a “Going Home Celebration” on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at 10:00a.m. at Peace Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Wharton, Texas. Pastor David Story will officiate with assistance from Pastor J. Michael Bumgarner. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Wharton Funeral Home.
