Annie Margaret Klimicek, passed away peacefully at the age of 100 on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at St. Dominic Village in Houston. She was born near Ellinger, Texas on September 25, 1916, to Edwin and Rosalie Hafernik Jasek. Annie attended schools in the Ellinger area. She married Bohumir Klimicek on November 9, 1936 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church near Ellinger. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1986. When you didn’t find Annie working in the garden, you’d find her helping run the family grocery store in Fayetteville and later the family pool hall in Wharton. She had great joy as a homemaker, sewing and making homemade noodles and kolaches. Being a faithful Catholic all her life, she joined Holy Family Catholic Church after moving to Wharton. She enjoyed being active in her church, joining the Catholic Daughters, the Altar Society. She was an active member of the Czech Singers. She also worked with the bereavement committee and made many pickles for funeral meals. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Theresa Butler, son, Charles Edward Klimicek, Sr., sisters, Tonie Jasek, Mary Jasek, Lucy Becker and brother, Joe Jasek. She is survived by her grandchildren, Sylvia Elizabeth Klimicek, Charles Edward Klimicek, Jr., Ibis Margaret Klimicek and husband, Michael Villa, Marcus O. Butler and spouse Chris Yulo, and Ann T. (Bitsy) Borin and husband John, great grandchildren, Maria, Kyle, Alex, Lia, Yasmin, Sofia, Nicolas and Mia, and great great grandchild, Lillian Grace. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Holy Rosary recited at 10:30 by members of the Catholic Daughters. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 10, 2017, at 11:00AM. The Rite of Committal and burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Dominic Village 2401 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, Texas 77021. Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
