Cordie May Wallace passed away peacefully on February 24, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Eagle Lake to the late Slack Ivey and Ada Jackson Courtney Ham on January 14, 1920. Cordie was raised on a dairy farm in Eagle Lake and attended Eagle Lake schools. Cordie always said she milked a lot of cows on a one legged stool. She married Hubert Lester Wallace on June 30, 1938 in Eagle Lake. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2008. A homemaker all her married life, Cordie raised six wonderful children. She enjoyed watching movies, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren. Cordie dedicated her life to her family and loved cooking for them. In addition to her parents and husband, Cordie was preceded in death by her sisters, Jessie Brezik, Maude Graham and brothers, Milton, Ivy, Ford, and Jack Ham. She is survived by her daughters, Cordie Jane Dillon of Portland, OR, Janet Jemela of Missouri City, and Carol Simpson and husband, David of Pledger, sons, Lester Wallace and wife, Lynn of Bay City, Jimmy Wallace and wife, Dianne of Ft Stockton, and Bobby Wallace and wife, Elizabeth of Richmond, sister, Robbie Waldon of Huntington, 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren with one on the way. A viewing will be held at Wharton Funeral Home, 515 E. Boling Hwy, Wharton, TX 77488, Wednesday, March 1 from 5-7 p.m., with funeral services on Thursday, March 2 at 10 a.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jason Wallace, Brian Burns, Neal Simpson, Jarrett Hester, Zachary Wallace and Craig Wallace.
