Vera James, 96, of Boling, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 28, 2017, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Vera was born on August 7, 1920, in Ward Springs, Oklahoma, to the late Ellis and Elsie Dawson Morrison. Vera was raised in Oklahoma and graduated from Boling High School. She married Orvel Stanley James on August 17, 1940 in Wharton. After 51 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on February 17, 1991. Vera and Orvel settled in the Boling area in 1943. Their marriage was blessed by the addition of two sons, Richard and Ray James. While the boys were in high school, Vera attended and graduated from Wharton County Junior College as an LVN. She then worked many years at the Caney Valley Hospital in Wharton, before retiring in 1978. In addition to her parents and husband, Vera was preceded in death by sons, Richard and Ray James, her sister and two brothers, and her infant grandson, David James. Vera is survived by her grandchildren, Brenda and Kenneth Marak, Susan and Brian Franklin, Kim and Derick Moeller, Bobby James, and Peggy and Mark Lopez, 10 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held after 1pm Friday, March 31, 2017 at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Funeral services beginning at 2pm at Wharton Funeral Home with Mr. Mickey Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers are Kodi James, Kenneth Marak, Brian Franklin, Derick Moeller, Mark Lopez and Randy Ruiz.
