Frances Joy Brady Bentley, 93, of Wharton, died surrounded by family on March 31st in Wharton. She was born September 18, 1923 in Houston to William Earl and Lillian Mae (Clark) Brady. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 10:00 am at Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Don Hurley officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 2 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. During her early life, Joy lived in Ft. Worth, San Antonio, and moved to Wharton in February 1940 where she captured the eye of Joe Bentley as she was walking down the street. She married the love of her life on August 1, 1940. They celebrated 73 years of marriage before he died in August of 2013. She was a charter member of College Heights Baptist Church where she touched the lives of many people with her love and faithfulness. For 50+ years, Joy was a volunteer at Gulf Coast Medical Center where she accumulated over 19,000 volunteer hours. She was a charter member of the Wharton Pilot Club and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 20 years where she held many local and state offices. Joy worked 14 years for Federal Crop Insurance located in Wharton Joy loved her family and having them gather together for games and visiting. There was always an abundance of food when they were together. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Joe, her father in 1956 and her mother in 1974; brothers: Bill Brady in 2009 and George Brady in 2008; and grandson, John M. “Jack” Bentley, II in 1979. Joy is survived by her sons Larry & Chris Bentley of Thermopolis, Wyoming, Mike & Judy Bentley of Sugar Land, and her daughters Betsy Parsons of Wharton and Jean Ann & Bruce Slaven of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 1 great- great granddaughter. Following cremation, visitation will be held Sunday, April 2nd from 5-7 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 3rd at 10 a.m. with Rev. Don Hurley officiating.
