Myrtle Minnie Ustynik Myrtle Minnie Ustynik, 101, of Wharton, TX, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, April 11, 2017 in a Wharton nursing home. Myrtle was born on January 9, 1916, to the late Rudolph George Zahn and Elizabeth Krause Zahn. Myrtle was raised in the Wharton area and attended schools there. She married Jessie Ustynik on June 20, 1934 in Wharton and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1993. The young couple settled in the Wharton area and raised three sons, Herschel, Dennis and Jessie. She was a member of the Crescent School Mother’s Club, St Paul Women of the Church, Altar Guild, Volunteered at the Voting polls, Women’s church Quilting group and Good Sam Camping Club. She loved doing crossword puzzles and reading. She spent her time playing dominoes and Bingo. Myrtle loved to dance and listen to western music, especially Jim Reeves. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jessie Lee Ustynik; sisters; Olga Hulda Kohleffel, Mary Almira Heath, Margaret Elizabeth Nitsche and Adeline Ruth Graham; brothers: Rudolph Oscar “Buddy” Zahn and Waldo Werner “Sonny” Zahn. She is survived by her sons, Herschel Ustynik and wife, Betty of Rosenberg and Dennis Ustynik and wife, Tina of Humble; daughter in law, Lucy Ustynik of Wharton; grandchildren, Jessie Lee Ustynik, Jr, Ronald Dwayne Ustynik, Dwain Alan Ustynik, Shalyn Marie Ustynik Rosenbaum and Jenny Elyse Ustynik; great grandchildren, Sterling Ustynik, Morgan Peikert, Ethan Rosenbaum, Lahna Rosenbaum and Brooklynn Ustynik; great-great grandchildren, Nicolas, Briana, Landon and Kinlee and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Visitation was held on Friday, April 14th starting at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wharton, Tx followed by a Funeral Services at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Tart officiating. Burial will follow at Wharton Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Dwain Ustynik, Jessie Ustynik, Ronnie Nitsche, Charles Nitsche, Chris Kurtz, Sterling Ustynik and Ronnie Heath. Honorary pallbearers were all the staff of Wharton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
