Gwendolyn Dexter Shell, 103, of Wharton, died April 25, 2017, in Wharton. Gwendolyn was born on November 4, 1913, in Winters, California, to E.L. and Ivy Guthrie Dexter. Following her high school graduation, she went on to earn her Bachelor’s of Science in Home Economics from the University of California, Berkley. She later married Horace Edward Shell on February 4, 1939. She was his loving wife for over 60 years, until his passing in 2002. Gwendolyn always loved working in her flower beds, reading and travel. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sisters Genevie Dexter and Alice Dexter Binns. She is survived by her son Thomas Shell and wife Karen of Brighton, CO; daughter Susan Shell and husband Thomas Winston of Wharton; grandchildren Jennifer Winston, Steven Winston, Janis and Bob Satterfield and Andrea and Phil Robertson; and great-grandchildren Robby, Toby, Hunter, Preston and Reeselyn.
