Dolores Agatha Herzik Svatek Dolores Agatha Herzik Svatek, 79, of Wharton, died on May 11, 2017, after a brief illness. Dolores was born on January 10, 1938, in Garwood, Texas, to Joe and Helen Dusek Herzik. Dolores loved caring for her family. Her favorite titles were “Wife”, “Mom” and especially “Grandma” and she excelled at those jobs. She took great pride in her ability to care for several generations of Svateks. Before retiring, she worked in the family business, Svatek Distributing Company. Dolores was a devout Catholic and lived her faith every day, leading her family by example. She served her church in many ways- as Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, choir member and song leader, charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #1990 (49 years) serving as Court Regent from 1995-1999, and as a member of Holy Family Altar Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and KJZT Society. She will be remembered for her love of music and polka dancing, gardens full of colorful flowers, delicious cooking, amazing organizational skills, and her love of desserts. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Lorraine Popp and Helen Bowen; and brothers Ivan Herzik, Ervin Herzik and Joe Herzik Jr. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Johnnie Daniel Svatek; daughters Sandra Svatek and Donna Svatek; son Johnnie Ray Svatek and wife Linda; sister Gladys Cerny; grandchildren Heather Kalina and husband Clint and Clay Svatek and wife Jacque; and great-grandchildren Taylor Grace Kalina (8), Regan Faith Kalina (5), Chance Matthew Kalina (3), Kynlee Marie Svatek (2), and Emilee Rae Svatek (3 weeks). Visitation will be held on Monday, May 15th, at Holy Family Catholic Church starting at 5:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 16th, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Dominic Antwi-Boasiako, Rev. Kristopher Fuchs, and Rev. Gabriel Maison officiating. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
