Ruth Chavez, 77, of Boling, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on May 13, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Ruth was born on July 22, 1939, in New Gulf, Texas, to the late Francisco and Maria Jimenez Rodriguez. Ruth was raised in the New Gulf area and attended New Gulf schools. She married Jacinto Chavez on January 26, 1957. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1998. Ruth enjoyed gardening, sewing, crochet, and cooking and baking for friends and family, especially her enchilada casserole and homemade tortillas. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, James David Chavez, sister, Victoria de la Rosa, brothers, Elias Rodriguez and Maximo Rodriguez. She is survived by her daughters, Anna Chavez, Elizabeth Bourg and husband, Kevin, and Rebecca Chavez, sons, John David Chavez and Jesse Chavez, sisters, Maria Gonzalez, Martha Flores, and Lydia Rodriguez and brother, Victor Rodriguez, grandchildren, Damian Bourg, DeAnna Bourg, Dominic Bourg, Theresa Chavez, John David Chavez, II, and Bella Negrete along with great grandchildren, Luca Sacco and Dahlia Villareal. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 16th, at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home starting at 5:00 p.m. The Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Janie Robles and Rev. Janie Jo Robles Lopez officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Serving as Pallbearers will be Damian Bourg, David Villareal, Daniel Gonzalez, Joe Reyes, Jr., Kevin Bourg and Victor James Rodriguez.
