Melba Colleen Blazek

Mrs. Melba Colleen Boyd Blazek, age 82, died at home in East Bernard, Texas, on Sunday, May 21, 2017 after a brief illness. Born February 1, 1935, in Magnet, Texas to Melvin and Sylvia Boyd, she grew up in Orchard, Texas, before settling with her husband Bob in East Bernard. She was an elementary teacher for 30 years. Melba was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening. Melba was a member of the Fort Bend Country Club for 31 years, the Eagle Lake Tee Up Golf Club, the Caring Citizens of E.B., Wharton Garden Club, volunteer hair dresser & barber at the Wharton Nursing home, CARE, and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in East Bernard. Survivors include her husband of 61 years and love of her life, Bob, a son, Bo and his wife Michelle, a daughter, Jan and her husband Daryl Kutach, a sister, Margaret Horelica. Grandchildren include: John and Kaylan Kopycinski, Matt and Jynna Kopycinski, Hillarie Blazek, Jacob Blazek, great grandson Hays Kopycinski, sisters in laws Carolyn Pilcik and Patty Blazek, nieces and nephews, Lynn, Russell, and John David Horelica, Suzanne Dujka, Paulette Britton, Sandy Logan and their families., Sarah Rowling and her family, and Andrew Blazek. Melba requested that her palliative care doctor, Dr. Asha Wurdeman with Memorial Hermann Hospital specifically be mentioned with honor in the obituary. Dr. Wurderman showed Melba kindness and respect in probably the hardest moment of her life. Melba requested no flowers or plants; donations may be made to the East Bernard High School Scholarship Fund, or the First Baptist Church, East Bernard. A Memorial Service for Melba will be held on June 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, East Bernard, TX, meal to follow.
