Robert Charles Hurst, 66, of East Bernard, passed away on May 29, 2017 at Houston Memorial Hermann Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on April 15, 1951 in Houston to the late Raymond Fuller and Lorraine Mallory Hurst. Robert was born and raised in Houston. He attended Lamar High School before graduating from Southern Arizona College Prep School. He later attended Tyler Junior College where he obtained his Associate of Arts degree. On September 3, 1993, he married Charlene Rice in Richmond. Robert worked for Fluor Corporation for many years as a Logistics Manager. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in the yard, golf, and riding his tractor and gator. One of his favorite hobbies was gas powered R/C cars and boats. Robert is survived by his wife of 23 years, Charlene Hurst of East Bernard, son, Ryan Hurst of Richmond, daughters, Lauren Kainer and husband, Matt of Houston and Cameron Hurst of Fort Worth, sister, Carol Hurst Cole and husband, Rear Admiral Brady Cole (Ret) of Austin, brother, Tom Hurst and wife, Mandy of Spring, and his granddaughter, Brooklyn Hurst, and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, June 1 at Wharton Funeral Home from 6 – 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 2, at 10 am from the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
