Walter Raymond Richardson, 88, of Boling, died June 2, 2017, in Houston. Walter was born on March 14, 1929, in Iago, to Frank and Maude Poor Richardson. Walter enlisted in the Army in January of 1951. He earned a Purple Heart for wounds received in Korea. He was honorably discharged in August of 1952. He went on to make is living farming and ranching. He loved being outside, whether working with the goats, mowing the lawn, gardening or working with horses. He also loved his grandkids and great-grandkids. Walter was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Jo Etta Helfer Richardson; parents; sons Dennis Brown and Jack Richardson. He was survived by daughters Shirley Jansky, Rita Rose, Diane Pell & Eddie and Ginger May; sisters Gladys Hoffman and Dorothy Richardson; grandchildren Mary Jo & husband, Smiley, Keith, Jack Walter, Dennis, DJ Dancer, Linda Kay, Douglas, Eddie Paul, John, Ricky, Mickey, Tiffany, Ashley and Maggie; and great-grandchildren Joseph, Meredith, Drake, Jack, III, Toy, Chris, Chelsea, Kurt, Crystal, Eddie, Jr., Shirley Ann, Arthur, Nicki, Jessica, Chelsea Rose, Jacob, Zach, Summer and Lauren. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 7, from 5 – 6 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. A Vigil service will follow at 6 p.m. Family and friends will gather at Wharton Funeral Home on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. and process to the graveside service at Evergreen Memorial Park. Rev. Martin Huerta will officiate. Serving as Pallbearers will be Joseph Gonzales, Monty Blunston, Arthur Kuk, Christian Alcalar, Luke West and Brandon Matula. Masonic graveside honors will be provided by Masonic Lodge 621. Military honors will be presented by American Legion Post 87 and VFW Post 4474.
