Anthony Charles Hlavinka, age 69, passed away on June 4, 2017 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in East Bernard on September 1, 1947 to the late Frank C and Lillian Poessel Hlavinka. Anthony was raised in East Bernard and graduated from East Bernard High School. He married Phyllis Arlt on July 26, 1968 in East Bernard. Anthony later graduated from Texas A&M University class of ‘69 and obtained his master’s degree. Anthony taught at two school districts: Boling ISD where he taught Jr. High Math and Brazos ISD where he was the elementary school counselor since 1993. He enjoyed family gatherings, games and being around children. Anthony was very involved with his church, Grace Community Fellowship. Anthony is survived by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis Hlavinka of East Bernard, sons, Brian Charles Hlavinka and wife, Janie, Stephen Jacob Hlavinka and wife, Lindsey and Thomas Frank Hlavinka and wife, Carrie all of East Bernard, sisters, Elaine Wacholtz and husband, John of Plano, Lorene Henry and husband, Gary of College Station, and Francine Sulak and husband, Alan of East Bernard, brothers, Sylvester Hlavinka and wife, Linda of East Bernard and Jack Hlavinka and wife, Linda of Texarkana, grandchildren, Dillon Scott, Nathan Charles, Andrew Joseph, Joshua Christopher, Ethan Samuel, Ryan Thomas, Karis Mackenzie, Aaron Jacob, Timothy Scott, Christopher Cole, and Levi Alexander Hlavinka. Following cremation, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 10, at 10 am at Grace Community Fellowship Church in Wharton with Michael Limas officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Brazos Elementary Library in care of First National Bank of Bellville-Wallis, 6404 Railroad Street, Wallis, TX 77465, 979-478-6900 as well as a Go Fund Me account.
