David Miñiel, age 68, passed away on June 6, 2017 in Sugar Land following a life that was poured out for Jesus and his family. He was born in Wharton on June 8, 1948 to the late Felipe and Dominga Ortiz Miñiel. David was raised in Wharton and graduated from Wharton High School. He later attended Norris of Houston to become a licensed barber. David married Eunise Cruz on August 14, 1982 in Rosenberg. A lifelong resident of Wharton, David worked as a barber for many years. He enjoyed visiting with his customers, and he never ceased to share the love of Jesus with those around him. David also enjoyed crafting and woodwork, fishing, and antique shopping. Many fall Sunday afternoons, he could be found watching and cheering for his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Singletary and Maria Elena Rodriguez. David is survived by his wife of 34 years, Eunise Miñiel of Wharton, son, David Aaron Miñiel and wife, Brytnie of Huntsville, sister, Refugia “Cuca” Morin and husband, John of Wharton, and many family, friends, and lifelong customers. Visitation will begin at 5:00pm Saturday, June 10th at Wharton Funeral Home with funeral services following at 6:00pm. Officiating the service will be Zeke Cruz, with Rev. Daniel Miñiel delivering a message. In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes to give to the family may donates funds through Wharton Funeral Home to help cover final expenses.
