William “Billy” Kieler, 68, of Wharton, died June 14, 2017, in Wharton. Billy was born on September 21, 1948, in Wharton, to William Frank and Mary Margaret Sevcik Kieler. Billy attended Wharton Schools and graduated class of 1967 before entering the Army in 1968 and serving until his Honorable Discharge in 1971. He went on to work as a Welding Inspector for South Texas Project Nuclear Operating Company where he enjoyed 30 years of employment. He retired just weeks ago. He enjoyed going fishing, lottery tickets, reading true war stories, and a garden full of tomatoes, peppers and okra. His great love was his animals. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Margaret Kieler and brother Conrad Kieler. He is was survived by his wife of 32 years, Kim Kieler; daughter Amanda Tolleson; son Bryan Kieler and wife Paulina; brother Bruce Kieler; nephew Aaron Kieler; sister-in-law Lynda Kieler; and numerous grandchildren. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-5 p.m. with a Rosary at 5 at Wharton Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Father Bob Knippenberg officiating. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Military Honors will be performed by the American Legion and VFW.
