Lonnie Frank Beard

Lonnie Frank Beard was called home by his beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 15, 2017. He was born near Palacios, Texas on July 8, 1938. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosalie Wittig Beard, his daughters, Sherrie Whitehead and husband Steven of Edna, Bonnie Pflughaupt and husband Gary of El Campo, and son, Michael Beard and wife Kim of Wharton, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his twin brother, Donnie and wife Carol Ann of Port Lavaca, brother Tommy Beard and wife Mary Kay of Palacios, and sister Thelma Holloway of Palacios. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Alice Beard, brothers Everett and Joe Ray and sisters, Lucille Beard and Jeanne Pertain. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1960, he married Rosalie Wittig of Mackay, Texas, on June 5th, 1960. Lonnie served his country in the Armed Forces for the next six years. “Grandad” will always be remembered by his love for God, family, others, his light-heartedness, singing, playing dominoes and farming. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 614 Pecan Street, Wharton, Texas 77488, designated towards the Parish Hall Renovation Fund. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 20 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 21, at 10:00 a.m. St. John's Lutheran Church in Wharton, Texas.
