Eloise Rudloff, formerly of Wharton and Newgulf, passed away June 26, 2017, in Jacksonville, Fla. She was 88. Eloise was born on February 27, 1929, in Pensacola, Fla., to the late Maurice M. East and Vera E. Bowman East. Because her father was in the Navy, she lived in Panama, Boston., and Charleston, S.C., before settling in Alexandria, La., where she graduated from Bolton High School. Following graduation, Eloise moved to Houston where she met Archer Lee Rudloff. They married in Newgulf Baptist Church on February 18, 1950, and raised two daughters in Newgulf. She worked as the postmaster of the Newgulf Post Office for many years, retiring in 1992. Eloise was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also was active for many years in church, both Newgulf Baptist Church and First Baptist of Wharton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archer Lee, on April 18, 1994, and her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Rudloff on October 23, 2016. She is survived by her daughter, Lindsay Carol Rudloff Bergstrom and husband, Travis, of Jacksonville, Fla., sister, Norma East of Boling and grandchildren, Justin Bergstrom and his wife, Theresa, and Jared Bergstrom of Jacksonville, and Jessica Bergstrom of Brooklyn, N.Y. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 8, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church.
