Frank Spurny, 81, of Kerrville, Tx, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born in East Bernard, Tx on August 16, 1935 to Frank and Frances (Hlavinka) Spurny. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy after graduating Wharton High School and married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Toney on April 2, 1955. After fulfilling his duty to country, Frank began his lifelong career at Sears. He worked his way through the company. In 1982, he relocated his family to Kerrville and took over the Sears Catalog Store. In 1990 due to company restructuring, Frank became the owner/operator of the Sears Authorized Dealer Store and continued in that capacity until he retired and passed the store operations to his son James. Retirement brought many trips to his beloved Ruidoso, NM and time spent with family and friends. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy and son, Francis and brother Joe Spurny. He is survived by his children, Teresa Spurny of Roswell, NM; James Spurny (wife Lorie) of Kerrville, TX; Sharon Phillips (husband John) of West Columbia, Tx; grandchildren Brandon Spurny, Amanda Taylor (husband Dustin), Gage Spurny, all of Kerrville, Tx, Cinco Phillips, Bailey Phillips, and Nash Phillips all of West Columbia, Tx and great grandchildren Mason Taylor and MaeLee Taylor, brothers in law, Robert Toney and wife, Barbara of Bay City, and William Ridenour and wife, Nancy of San Antonio, sister in law, LouAnn Arth and husband, Ross of College Station, along with many nieces and nephews. Family would like to say a special thank you to Taylor Johnson and Peterson Hospice for the special care they provided our father during his illness. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, July 17 from 6 till 8 pm at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rite of Committal and burial to follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
