Margaret Morgan, 97, of Wharton, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017. She was born on February 23, 1920 to the late Alvin Bynum and Mary Augusta Hegar Kriegel on Kriegel Road in rural Wharton County. Margaret graduated from Wharton High School and later attended Southwestern University in Georgetown Texas. She married Laurence Morgan on January 4, 1941 in Wharton. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2008. Margaret and Laurence moved back to Wharton in 1950 to raise their two sons. She was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church and served many years with the Methodist Women. She loved to sew, quilt, read, cook and do crossword puzzles. Margaret was known as a kind, loving and humble person. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister, Julia Kriegel and brother, Charles Kriegel. Margaret is survived by her son, Michael Morgan and wife, Ginger of Wharton and their children Mary Martha Vogt and husband Nathan, Howard Morgan and wife Lane. And her son Charles Morgan and wife, Wendy of Austin and their children Matthew Morgan and wife, Paige and Melissa Morgan Waters and husband, Garrett. Great grandchild, Amelia Vogt and two more great grandchildren on the way. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 18 at the Wharton Funeral Home from 5 till 8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 10:30 at the First United Methodist Church in Wharton with Rev. Kelly Krone officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Pallbearers include: Matthew Morgan, Howard Morgan, George “Ray” Guttenburger, Ronnie Wittig, Keith Ermis, and Ken Freese.
