Antonia Muñoz, 86, of Lane City, TX, passed away on Monday evening, August 7, 2017 in a Sugar Land hospital following a brief illness. Antonia was born on March 21, 1931, to the late Francisco Munoz and Antonia DeLaGarza Muñoz in DeWitt County Texas. Antonia was a lifelong resident of Lane City. She worked for Perma Pom for many years before retiring in 1998. Antonia enjoyed her yard. Landscaping became more than just a hobby, as she won yard on the month several times. She was also known as a great cook and awesome baker. Antonia was very faithful to her Catholic Faith and rarely missed Mass. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Mata and brothers, Eulalio Muñoz and Eugene Muñoz. Antonia Munoz is survived by her sisters, San Jauna Muñoz of Lane City, and Modesta Garcia of Houston, brother, Jesse Muñoz of Kress, Texas. A host of other nieces, nephews and cousins that will miss and remember her fondly. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, August 10th starting at 6 p.m. at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton with Fr. Antonio Perez celebrating. The Rite of Committal and burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
