Andrew Botello, Jr., 69, of Wharton, TX, passed away on suddenly on Wednesday evening, August 9, 2017 in a Richmond hospital. Andrew was born on May 28, 1948 in Sinton, Texas to the late Andres Botello, Sr and Juanita Gomez Botello. Andrew was a long-time resident of Wharton. He married Ophelia Cantu on November 10, 1979 in Bay City. He worked as a truck driver for many years, before retiring. Andrew was known on the CB as “Taco Kid”. He enjoyed trucking and would drive anywhere, anytime. One of his favorite pastimes was riding his motorcycle with his wife, and later the motorcycle club, Los Malos. He was known as “Midnite.” He even named his dog after his favorite bike, Harley. Above all else, Andrew loved spending time with his grandchildren, and they loved him back. Andrew is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ophelia Botello of Wharton, daughter, Elisa Botello of Wharton, son, Andrew T. Botello, III, and wife, Melinda of New Braunfels, sisters, Hope Carmona, Janie Fuentes and Gina Murphy, and brother, Gilbert Botello all of Houston. His grandchildren, Steven, Alyssa, Nikkolas, Andrew, Adrianna, Andrija and Jasmine along with great grandchildren, Cian and Leo. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon, August 13th from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the celebration of his life.
