** SERVICES POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER ** FRANK RAY CURRIN, of East Bernard, Texas passed away August 19th, 2017, to be reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Margaret. Frank would have celebrated their 52nd anniversary and his 90th birthday in October. He was born October 9, 1927, in Oxford, NC, to Hubert Ray Currin and Adra Priscilla Clarke. He grew up in Petersburg, VA farming tobacco and soybeans. He attended the University of Virginia and VMI before being drafted in the U.S. Army. He served in the Philippines during World War II. With his degree in Business, he spent his early career in real estate development in Richmond, VA. He later expanded into Southeast, with an eventual move to Houston TX. In 1964, he met his greatest love in life, Margaret Nail Booher, who happened to rent a place in his apartment building. They were often seen at the nearby Officer’s Club, where they danced away the nights. They enjoyed weekends at the Carolina beaches and were married May 15, 1965 in South Carolina. Frank was a fierce defender of American Freedom, and proud of his legacy belonging to the Sons of The American Revolution. Several historical Civil War battles took place on his family’s farm land in Petersburg, VA. He was an avid military history buff. He loved table games and was hard to beat playing chess and checkers with his kids. He loved fishing, especially off the Texas Coast. He loved living with his family in East Bernard, TX, where he enjoyed farming, riding his tractor, tending his crops and raising cattle and horses. His cows always came trotting up the fence line when they saw Frank on his tractor. He was known for great conversation and his wonderful memory, to entertain all, with stories from the past, instructing details of events and parting wisdoms. He was a kind and generous person sharing all that he had with anyone. Frank was a member of the VFW Post 9182 and the First United Methodist Church. He was a devoted husband, father and step-father, grandpa, brother and friend. He leaves behind his family, brother Bert C. Currin and wife Lee of Bel Air, Maryland. His twin daughters, Elizabeth Anne Currin of East Bernard, TX and her twins Sydney Kate and Scotty Currin Wigley. Barbara Jean Currin of East Bernard, TX and her son Clayton Currin Besier. Robert Boone of Eagle Lake, TX for the unselfish devotion he gave to our Father. We would like to express our gratitude to the staff of the Texas State Veterans Home in Floresville, TX. Visitation to be held Friday, September 8, 2017 starting at 5 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of East Bernard. Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of East Bernard. Burial will follow at First United Methodist Cemetery in East Bernard.
